Growth is rarely comfortable—but it is almost always worth it.
As I look back over the past year, I can’t help but feel grateful for everything God has done through Kansas City Psychology. Opening and growing a psychology practice in a new city has stretched me in ways I never expected. There have been challenges, countless learning experiences, and incredible opportunities to meet amazing people throughout the Kansas City community.
Most importantly, it has reaffirmed why I started this practice in the first place: to provide compassionate, high-quality psychological services that help children, teens, adults, and families find answers, healing, and hope.
Building a Psychology Practice in Kansas City
When I first opened Kansas City Psychology, I knew I wanted to create something different.
Of course, we provide comprehensive psychological evaluations, ADHD testing, autism assessments, therapy, and diagnostic services. But I wanted our practice to be known for something even more important—how we treat people.
Seeking help can feel overwhelming. Calling a psychologist for the first time can be intimidating. Whether someone is looking for answers about ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, or simply needs someone to talk to, I wanted every person who contacted our office to feel welcomed from the very first phone call.
That vision continues to guide every decision we make.
Learning Skills They Never Teach You in Graduate School
Graduate school prepared me to become a psychologist.
It did not prepare me for running a business.
This past year has been filled with learning experiences that had little to do with psychological testing or therapy and everything to do with leading a growing practice.
I’ve learned the complexities of working with insurance companies, credentialing providers, understanding billing systems, developing office procedures, improving marketing, building relationships with referral sources, and creating efficient workflows that allow our clinicians to spend more time helping clients.
Every challenge became another opportunity to grow.
While there were certainly moments when things felt overwhelming, I can honestly say that each lesson has made Kansas City Psychology stronger and better equipped to serve the Kansas City community.
Relationships Matter
One of the greatest blessings has been meeting so many wonderful people throughout the Kansas City area.
I’ve had the privilege of connecting with physicians, pediatricians, schools, churches, counselors, social workers, attorneys, and community organizations that all share one common goal—helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
These relationships remind me every day that mental health is truly a community effort. When professionals work together, clients receive better care, better answers, and better outcomes.
I’m incredibly thankful for every referral, every conversation, and every opportunity to collaborate with others who are passionate about serving our community.
Creating a Culture of Kindness
If you’ve ever visited our office, I hope you’ve noticed something.
We genuinely want people to feel comfortable here.
From the moment someone contacts our office until they complete therapy or receive the results of their psychological evaluation, our goal is for every interaction to communicate warmth, respect, and compassion.
Mental health services shouldn’t feel cold or impersonal.
Whether someone is coming in for an autism evaluation, ADHD testing, therapy, learning disability testing, or another psychological assessment, we want them to know they are valued—not simply as a client, but as a person.
That culture has become one of the things I’m most proud of as our practice continues to grow.
Learning to Hire the Right Team
Another lesson this past year has been learning how to build an incredible team.
Hiring isn’t just about finding qualified therapists or psychologists. It’s about finding people who genuinely care about others and who share the same commitment to treating every client with kindness, professionalism, and respect.
Clinical knowledge is essential, but compassion is what truly changes lives.
Watching our team grow has been one of the greatest joys of this journey, and I’m excited about continuing to build a practice where clinicians enjoy coming to work and clients feel supported every step of the way.
A New Home for Kansas City Psychology
One of the biggest milestones this year has been moving into our new office.
We are now proudly serving clients at:
Kansas City Psychology
10525 N. Ambassador Drive, Suite 201
Kansas City, MO 64153
Our new location gives us the space to continue expanding our services while providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for individuals and families throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.
As more people seek psychological testing, ADHD evaluations, autism assessments, educational evaluations, and therapy, this new office allows us to continue meeting the growing need for quality mental health care in our community.
For me, this move represents much more than simply having a larger office.
It represents the continued unfolding of a vision that God placed on my heart—to create a place where people can find answers, experience healing, and know they are never walking through life’s challenges alone.
We’re Growing—and We’re Looking for Great Clinicians
As Kansas City Psychology continues to expand, we’re actively looking for therapists and psychologists who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
If you’re passionate about providing exceptional therapy, conducting psychological evaluations, or helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, I’d love to connect with you.
We’re looking for clinicians who value compassion just as much as clinical excellence—people who want to be part of a supportive team that is committed to serving the Kansas City community with integrity, professionalism, and genuine care.
If that sounds like you, I encourage you to reach out. We’d love to talk about how you might become part of what we’re building.
Looking Ahead
When I reflect on everything this past year has brought, one lesson stands above the rest: God often grows us through change.
Some lessons came through success.
Others came through challenges.
All of them have strengthened both me and this practice.
I’m incredibly grateful to every client who has trusted us, every physician and therapist who has referred to us, every school and community partner we’ve worked alongside, and every person who has encouraged us along the way.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
I’m excited about everything that lies ahead for Kansas City Psychology as we continue serving children, adults, and families throughout Kansas City with compassionate therapy, comprehensive psychological testing, ADHD and autism evaluations, and evidence-based mental health care.
And if you’re a therapist or psychologist looking for a place where you can grow professionally while making a lasting impact in people’s lives, I’d love to hear from you.
The next chapter is just beginning, and I truly believe the best is yet to come.
